Moose Jaw Refinery is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Calgary-based Gibson Energy Ltd., the premier midstream company in Canada.
Gibson acquired Moose Jaw Refinery in January 2002, giving the company a significant presence in the asphalt manufacturing, marketing and transportation business.
The synergy between the two companies is a natural fit because Gibson is the largest truck transporter of liquid asphalt in Western Canada. Safety and experience are hallmarks of Gibson’s asphalt-hauling services.
In addition, Gibson’s skilled marketers ensure asphalt and other specialty products are delivered at competitive prices.
Since acquiring Moose Jaw Refinery, a $10-million investment by Gibson has helped to modernize facilities, increase capacity, improve environmental standards and take the refinery to year-round operations.
The capital investment included:
• additional asphalt storage facilities
• an efficient boiler system
• pipeline/plant upgrades
• winterization
